Funding The Fourth Estate – In The Public Interest

The pattern of consolidation and concentration of news started as early as 2000. Since then, professionalism has been replaced with partisan demagoguery and blatant, sometimes amateurish influence peddling. Social media has permitted users to filter their content, algorithms have learned what they interact with and outlets have designed themselves to serve the paradigm.

Where the survival of democracy is concerned, a viable and strong Fourth Estate is essential. It’s time to evolve our Republic to raise the bar on “News.”
